He does it again
Yes, I know this is supposed to be a blog about health, exercise, training, and nutrition. But sometimes there are going to be posts coming from me that have nothing to do with with those topics. And now that it is baseball season ,you may be seeing a few more of these posts. I love the Red Sox. Die hard fan. I even convinced my fiance to name our puppy "Fenway". Because I love the Red Sox, I hate the Yankees. And over the last couple of years, my hatred for the Yankees has gotten worse. Why? That phony who plays third base for the pinstripes, ARod. I can't stand the guy!!! First, it was him provoking a little brawl at Fenway back in'04. Then it was him using his Hamburger Helper gloves to try to knock a baseball out of Bronson Arroyos hand in the '04 playoffs. A couple of weeks ago, it was the elbow he threw at our rookie second baseman. And now, even though it wasn't even against our beloved Sox, that bush league play he pulled against our neighbors to the north, the Blue Jays. What is it with this guy? Did he resort to these tactics when playing with the Mariners or Rangers? Or is it more magnified because he plays with the Yankees? Whatever it is, I can't stand him. And please help me God, I hope Theo and the braintrust are not thinking about having this guy in a Red Sox uniform next year.

"Functional" Training
What is functional training? Let's see. You must be standing one leg or using a balance device (airex pad, dynadisc, bosu ball, ec.). You're abs must be drawn in. And use some tubing to make it more functional. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. A couple years after this whole functional training took off and I still see the same people doing their silly exercises on an unstable device. What's worse is seeing a trainer prescribing this exercise. What's even worse is watching this particular trainee not get any stronger over the years. Now how functional is that? Not very. Remember where all these balance devices came from? Rehab settings. And last time I checked the rehab setting is made of weak individuals. So get rid of your bosu ball or dynadisc and start squatting, lunging, and pressing. Now that's "functional".
